12 July: Starspect will have her last run at Cranbourne today. It's a bit against her today on a heavy 9 but she's been terrific and today will be all about celebrating the highs.

Speccy Wins at Geelong

Winner!!
Tues 12th August:  Well it's been a long time for our girl, but after some very good runs and encouraging signs during this campaign, she duly salutes at Geelong over the 1550m on the Thorough Track.

Thanks must go immediately to Tony and his team and Danny Brereton on top. But the story goes back 12 months when Dr Chris Whitton and team at Werribee Equine Hospital fought to keep her after a horrific accident in the truck. Tony had not even laid eyes on her since she had left his stable 13 months earlier to that.

This was to be some reunion. Then all of a sudden... with the ring of a phone late in the day...  it all didn't look likely at all.

Any racehorse owner does not want to receive the call from the surgeon "That it doesn't look good".

The team at Werribee then got stuck in to do a wonderful job... and we "were lucky". And then with some post op loving care from the team with Liz down there... things started to look brighter.

Speccy Cranbourne

3rd

After a few runs at Seymour that have not yeilded any results, Speccy is nommed for Cranbourne this Thursday.  There may have not been any results since the good Swan Hill 3rd placing, but some lessons may have been learnt in the last couple of runs for the stable to hopefully put to use in her next assignment.

She's been up a fair while now and the setbacks in this campaign have not helped, but we are always hopeful of the ol' Speccy working thru it and coming out the other end.

In other news on the family. The uncle Progreso won a maiden in Ireland, and the 2yo Val Royal half brother has landed in Hong Kong from NZ. 7yo Hilly looks like he has gone to a new trainer and has renewed around the Wagga area but wet tracks aren't helping. Finally, Royal Hero 8yo looks like he may have been retired finally when Ray Dart sold him at the MM July sale on the Gold Coast. He retires winning over $100k in winnings and multiple city wins.

Speccy 5th at Geelong

starspect May 26th:  Starspect returned to racing in a low profile renewal at Geelong on Friday 23rd in a 0-78 1100m race on the ThoroughTrack. She raced well adn came home for fifth place and her first weigh in, in more than 2 years. The folks on track to see her compete were very excited. Fingers crossed her return form can continue as she gets out over distance.
