| Starspect foaled 28th September, 2002. Fast forward 3 years. A story begins... | "...the excitement builds!!" Gavin Beever 17/09/05 | The preparation of this filly has been on logic in hoping for a mile and beyond. Let's Hope!!! Prior to this mating all previous matings of Star of Grosvenor having been to sprinter's except for Danehill who could throw winners over all distances.
| | | Spectrum was a classic horse that enjoyed all his success at a mile and beyond. Any comparison with photo's of our filly can see there is a strong resemblance. The key Dam is the third dam in her pedigree - Royal Heroine and it is her peformance we hope will be reflected in generations to come in the pedigree. She was an outstanding champion turf mare in USA. She had the capacity to race early and successfully over 1200m and then her outstanding major group successes were at a mile and beyond, (really 1800m at beyond). The logic in our filly was on type she looks like a mile and beyond horse, she had a strong resemblance to her father who was a classic winning mile and beyond horse. The mating with Royal Heroine and to trying to pick up on the Royal Heroine influence and certainly it threw on type a staying type filly. Spectrum nicks well with Last Tycoon Mares, as a broodmare sire Last Tycoon is frequently in the Top 10 and is the 5th most successful nick with Spectrum (8 named foals for 7 runners for 4 winners, the most successful being Vignette who won a listed race over 1400m.) To date the peformance on Star of Grosvenor has not been up to the value of her progeny, but she has thrown horses that have got to the track and then gone on to win, which is a much better than average result. Royal Hero by Rory's Jester is a sprinter as his father would influence but he is still racing now as a five year old gelding so he has raced on which is not a Rory's Jester typical trait. Only truly Champion Broodmares throw stakes winner after stakes winner, in many cases they through several winners, an outstanding horse, a good horse or two and some that do not make it to the track for whatever reason. Paraphrasing of Gavin Beever circ. July 05. |
